Former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev, representing the UAE, has issued a challenge to newly crowned 84kg titleholder Sean Strickland following their bout. The fight headlined UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey, USA, and ended with Strickland winning via split decision.
Chimaev took to social media platform X, writing: “Let me know when you’re ready, Sean Strickland.”
The loss marked the first professional defeat of Chimaev’s career. He now holds a record of 15 wins (12 by finish) and one loss, having competed in mixed martial arts since 2018.
The defeat in yesterday’s title fight was the first blemish on Chimaev’s otherwise flawless record.
